As we celebrate 50 seasons of storytelling under the Idaho sky, we’re honored to return to where it all began—community. Idaho Shakespeare Festival was built not just on great theater, but on the creativity, passion, and vision of the artists who call this place home. In that spirit, we are thrilled to introduce to you, a group of talented local creators that have helped us commemorate this milestone season with Idaho Shakespeare Festival posters celebrating all that is unique about ISF. Their work continues a legacy that stretches back to our earliest days. You can find their wonderful work for purchase in Shakespeare’s Marketplace.
Clementine Canrinus is a 9th grader who lives in Idaho, with her parents, brother, and two tiny dogs, Cisco and Ruthie. Clementine has won numerous art competitions throughout the years, both for school and public competitions. Her favorite things she likes to do outside of school are hanging out with her friends or her dogs, and in her free time, watching movies and creating drawings. Clementine is honored to be one of the artists selected to create a poster for Idaho Shakespeare Festival. She is excited to work with the Festival and have her work presented. For the poster, she made one in the perspective of the audience, and represented the idea of connecting with food and art with a scene of a classic picnic, and friends enjoying a mini-concert at the Festival. Art and theater have been a big part of her life, and this poster is a representation of those inspirations.
Mary Ann is thrilled to be a part of ISF’s 50th anniversary. She obtained her Fine Arts degree from UCLA before studying abroad at the Exeter College of Art & Design. Upon returning to the states her art’s narrative tendencies quickly led to children’s books, and to date she has illustrated over seventy books. Eventually, her work expanded from the page to the wall. She has since provided custom murals for individuals, businesses, and civic organizations throughout the west. After moving to Idaho, she found further inspiration in the region’s rich history, landscapes, and wildlife. The result was a return to painting, both en plein air and in the studio. While Mary Ann’s creative pursuits have included everything from canvases to books, murals, posters, puzzles, greeting cards, and more, her goal continues to be to celebrate shared human experience—much like live theater—making this collaboration with the Idaho Shakespeare Festival especially rewarding.

Laurel Macdonald is an Idaho native. She grew up on a farm in the Treasure Valley. Her imagery stems from the flowers grown here in Idaho and the birds that perch on our fences, hoot from the treetops, and wade in our waterways. Her medium is hand-colored linocut printmaking. She draws the imagery onto linoleum, carves out the negative space, prints the image onto white paper with a printing press, and then she colors the image with watercolor and gouache. The result is a colorful, graphic image. More of her work can be seen at Art Source Gallery on 15th and Grove in Boise or at www.artfinder.com: Laurel Macdonald (printmaking).

After receiving her BA in Design from Western Washington University, she returned to Boise, drawn in by its hot desert summers and the opportunity to be a part of the FPM team. Her work often explores how to bring analog texture and shape into digital formats, paired with a love for bold, expressive color.
